REFLECTIONS:

Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

When I’m not guarding my heart and guarding my time with the Lord, I’m more likely to be short-tempered. I’m more likely to miss opportunities to glorify God or share His truth with someone at just the right moment. However, when dwelling on the love of God, I’m completely prepared to spread that love. I can understand His heart for the world more clearly, and I’m more sensitive to His guidance. By guarding my heart, I’m more prepared to honor God and His purposes.

When it comes to sharing the love of Christ, one of the most important things you can do is protect your own time with God. Spending daily time growing and learning with the Lord is what keeps you ready to share His love. That should be pretty easy, right? Focus on Christ before all else, and He’ll guide you through all the rest. Wow, it is hard to truly prioritize your relationship with Christ, when family, work, and ministry are all tugging on your sleeve as soon as you wake up!
